(O)K Street!
For some odd reason I managed to grow up in the nineties against a pretty massive musical backdrop of Seattle bands - and never realizing how amazing The Fastbacks were!
But now I know - and knowing is half the battle, right?
One of their most catchy songs is called “K street” and I managed to find this video (which is not really a video but at least you can hear the song). Make sure to clear out some space in front of the speakers ‘cause it will make you want to jump around!
I think I listened to this track at least 50 times when I had to stay up late and get some work done the other night but it’s sooooo good. If I’ll ever do a DJ-set somewhere I’ll be sure to play it – at least once!
The Fastbacks were Kurt, Lulu and Kim and a whole bunch of varying drummers – including Duff McKagen who later joined god-awful Guns n’ Roses . Apparently the band formed in the late seventies but their first complete album “Fastbacks ... And His Orchestra” wasn’t released until 1987 on Llama Records.
Over the next decade the band released a few albums on Sub Pop, but never made it big and in 2001 they decided to call it quits. But from what I can tell members of the band has gotten together since on a few special occasions to perform live.
